Company D 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment

is our early war impression covering the period of 1861-1862. Our annual event schedule includes living history demonstrations for the National Park Service at various battlefields. We are also well established with many other historical locations and event venues. Our impression is based on real research which can be viewed via the left hand menu of this page. Our purpose is to recreate the best and most accurate 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment impression possible. We strive to educate from a soldier’s perspective and teach about Maryland’s role during the American Civil War.

“We attacked the enemy on their right flank and made a complete rout. Beauregard said, “the Maryland Brigade, as he called it, arrived in the nick of time and saved the day”. The enemy retired precipitately.”

Sgt. James Thomas
